You shared, we listened…

A huge THANK YOU to all of our wonderful Blue Dolphin families who completed our recent survey on attitudes to returning to swimming. We spent several hours carefully reading through your comments and analysing your feedback, to ensure we understand what it is you feel most anxious about, and what you would like to see happening in the centre to return to swimming.

The huge positive we took from your responses is that the vast majority of our customers (81.2%) are keen to get back into the pool. Another reassuring message is that from the things you raised as your primary concerns, we have been able to identify changes to our centre or the way we operate to provide confidence in returning to Blue Dolphin.

We passionately believe that the best way to recover from the events of the past few months is to work together, to listen to one another and to be open and honest at all times. To this end we wanted to share the results of our survey with you. Over the coming days and weeks we will be providing details that specifically address your key concerns, showing you all of the hard work, thought and care we are putting into welcoming you back.

We are 100% focused on meeting the needs of SA Health, our customers and our staff and hope to be communicating a re-opening date very soon!

RETURNING STUDENTS:

Out of a total of 596 responses to the survey, 484 families (81.2%) expressed their willingness to return on opening. 96 families (16.1%) were unsure and 16 (2.7%) expressed that they would not return.

CONCERNS SURROUNDING RETURNING TO SWIM LESSONS:

Your free text comments submitted in response to this question could be summarised into 7 main categories.

  1. Social Distancing
  2. Skill Loss
  3. Hygiene
  4. Class Sizing
  5. Class Times
  6. Financial Concerns
  7. No concerns

The ability for parents/carers to be able to practice social distancing, and the need to provide a clean facility with the opportunity for customers and staff to regularly wash or sanitise were clear concerns. Details of how we are addressing these concerns will follow next week. We are also reviewing how we may be able to temporarily restructure some of our classes to meet the tight restrictions in Phase 2. This is a complex balancing act, so please be patient whilst we work through this, but hope to be communicating class details within a week or two.

YOUR MOST IMPORTANT SOCIAL DISTANCING/NON-TRANSMISSION INITIATIVES:

Cleanliness and distancing were consistently rated the key priorities for our families, and this is clearly visible in the chart above. However we also noted that you have concerns around the health of other customers attending the centre. We will be working on initiatives that should help educate and regulate in this area, and hope we can come together as a community to do the right things for one another. Again, we will communicate with you in the coming weeks on this point.

Thank you all again for your honest feedback. We found it extremely useful and encouraging, and are very excited about communicating  our plans and activities with you soon.

In the meantime, stay warm and well.

The Blue Dolphin Team
